Post-Surgery Update

A HUGE day today in the Stevenson household.
Today Mom went in for major surgery. We checked in and Mom was dressed in her 'stylish' hospital gown and her matching blue booties and head cap. A short time later, she left for surgery with her other half and a big smile on her face. She was brave and ready for the next step.
Now we wait.
Two and a half hours later, we found out that Mom emerged from surgery and was transferred to the recovery ward to await her room for the next couple of days. There was a delay for about 3 hours before we were able to see her, without any additional news.
Once the porter arrived, Mom was wheeled up to Ward 42 and gave a smile with eyes half open and said: "Sorry for such a long day, you guys." Even in the midst of her drugged state she cared for us.
Settled in her new room, Mom requested her pink beanie and her zebra slippers and got ready for her first night in the hospital. She had an incision on her abdomen but was not in pain thanks to the medicine they administered.
At this point, we still have not seen any Doctors and have little information on what happened during the procedure as far as the details go. We do know, however, that surgery had no complications and that yet another obstacle has been overcome in the path to Mom's victory over Cancer. God is working and showing His hand in all of this and has been showing his love and care in each of the moments that have lead to this surgery.
Mom requested that an update be sent out to all who have been praying for her. Mom will do a follow up blog post when we find out more information- but for now we are thanking God that Mom is strong, surgery was completed and that it seemed successful. Amazing.

We are all so thankful and grateful for the prayers for today and this whole process, it means so much to us. May God bless you.

  1. Thank you for the information. We keep on praying for Colleen and all of you and we hope that you can sense God`s love, presence and strengh in this time.
I want to send my special regards to Tim. I am married myself and I can imagine how hard it is to see your partner suffering and not beeing able to do very much to ease her sufferings. But it is so good for Colleen to have you by her side. We pray for you and all your helpers you left in Africa. May they do a very good job while you and Colleen can`t be there.
