Oh Come let us adore Him! December 14, 2014

This time of year vibrates with anticipation of festive dinners, voices raise in choral beauty and shoppers looking for the bargain of the century. Cool, crisp nights and Christmas lights covered in snow... trees, decorations all exemplifying reasons to celebrate Christ's birth.

Remembering those who are 'near and far' -- and the true reason we gather together at this time of year. The babe in the manger, verified His Kingship in this humble state... worshipped and attended to by Kings and Shepherds.  They who followed the brightest star, sang in adoration ... "Joyful, joyful we adore thee -- "

"And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph,
and the baby lying in a manger.
And when they saw it,
they made known the saying that they had been told them concerning this child.
And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.
But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart."
Luke 2:16 - 19

The joy of knowing, breathing in and receiving your grace and acceptance. The love that endures forever, never withdrawing -- but sustaining in daily adventures and disappointments. Your mercy and indulgence revealed through lavished gifts of a vermillion sunrise, tiny baby feet, laughter and a world of discovery -- all there for us to enjoy or ignore...

"They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights,
For with you is the fountain of life;
in your light do we see light.
Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,
and your righteousness to the upright of heart."
Psalms 36: 8-10

These past few weeks brought some date changes for the tests and scans that were planned for the new year. This was a good surprise! Blood work, C-T scan and a specialized scan (PET) which involves being injected with a radioactive tracer right into the blood stream which shows cancerous activity. Then, the waiting...  a week goes by, and the call to see the head oncologist. The appointment day arrives, and after consultation we are thankful to report that there that there is no cancerous activity taking place in my body.....Praise the Lord!!! This truly is an answer to prayer! God is great!

Where do I go from here?  There are some issues of back and leg pain which make movement difficult at times. So an MRI and x-ray are on the list to be done and the doctor has ordered another PET scan the beginning of March to see whether anything has changed. It will be then that I hope to return to Uganda and continue with the ministry.

Tim and I want to thank you for standing with us in prayer and demonstrating such love to our family. We have experienced overwhelming joy in the midst of uncertainty. As this year draws to an end, we want to wish you a wonderful Christmas and time together with your families and friends. God is faithful and true to His Word.

  1. And God Bless us all :) We are still celebrating the good news. Now we are praying that the pain in your bones will dissipate - we know chemo has ravaged your whole system - but we are standing on, "by His stripes you were healed !"
    We rejoice,
    Love, Mom and Dad
