Happy New Year! January 8, 2015

More than anything I give praise to God for bringing the family through the last year of challenge into this new one. Part of beginning a New Year is reminiscing about what one has experienced and learned, and then using it to propel oneself into the pristine, unworn and untraveled path of life. Last year at this time we were preparing ourselves to return to Uganda - never realizing what would transpire in the months to come. As the year unfolded it was clear major changes were necessary and a realization that we would be separated for a time. Certain decisions had to be made that we felt were necessary.

With testing, uncertainty and confusion looking at you in the face there is a decision that needs to be made. Will there be a choice of joy and positivity or will hardship overwhelm and submerge you?
JOY allows the days to go by faster and happier. Learning that positivity creates an easier bedfellow is a life lesson. Digging deep down to experience the source and richness of joy and contentment is only managed by the Lord Himself, who gives HOPE and PEACE during the dark hours.

God answers prayer, and gives cause to celebrate -- with joy, dance, clapping and with shouting. Who can resist this? We are to be the light of the world and to show the way through the good and bad. Be joyful in all things and praise Him for all the good in our lives.

You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands! (NLT)

Isaiah 55:12

2014 has been an enormous learning experience in total reliance and dependence on God. For breathe, life and the tomorrows. With great thankfulness we look forward to a positive, joyful 2015. Some of the pictures below are moments and occurrences from last year which are now part of the past -- but are all marker stones showing how far God has brought us.

Pain in my legs and lower back are side effects from the chemotherapy that are still part of daily life. Tests and scans will hopefully reveal some answers, but it does not diminish what God has done these past nine months.

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:22-23

Wishing you all a wonderful year of living in the fullness of God. May you experience His goodness, love and faithfulness. Happy 2015!

  1. Colleen, we had the privilege of being in your home soon after you left for Canada. We were overjoyed to witness the work that is being done in Uganda! We were filled to the brim to see all that has been accomplished and is still being done and still needs to be done. Uganda and area is so blessed to have you and Tim working so faithfully in His service. My wife and I look forward to seeing you there in 2016! Uganda is eagerly anticipating getting their Colleen back. God bless your journey!

  2. He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul.....You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Surely Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.

    Your life is such a testimony and we thank God for allowing us to be part of it and just to see how He has filled you with so much gratitude in spite of the challenge you have just been through is amazing!

    Surely His mercies are new every morning!
